Introduction

A leading engineering contractor delivering complex projects across the Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing sectors throughout Ireland and Europe is seeking an experienced Structural Quantity Surveyor to join its Commercial team.

The Structural Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) packages from project award through to final account. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing structural works including reinforced concrete, structural steel, piling, earthworks, façade systems and architectural finishes on large commercial or industrial projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
• Manage the commercial delivery of Civil, Structural and Architectural packages.
• Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Carry out quantity take-offs from construction drawings and specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities where required.
• Procure subcontract packages including issuing enquiries, analysing tenders and making recommendations.
• Prepare subcontract documentation, assess and certify applications for payment, measure/price/negotiate variations.
• Prepare interim valuations and client payment applications.
• Monitor project expenditure, produce accurate monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts and commercial updates.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, attend meetings and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and support continuous improvement within the Commercial Department.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Essential Requirements
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' post-graduate Quantity Surveying experience.
• Proven experience managing Civil, Structural and Architectural packages.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial or mission-critical construction projects.
• Excellent understanding of reinforced concrete, structural steel, earthworks and architectural construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical and financial management abilities with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable Experience
• Data Centre projects.
• Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences facilities.
• NEC, FIDIC or JCT contract experience.
• CostX, Cubit or similar commercial software.
• Experience working for a Tier 1 Contractor.
