Introduction

Acme Project Developments is a construction company within the retail and hospitality sector, seeking a Junior or Candidate Quantity Surveyor for a Project based contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing bills of quantities, overseeing project costs, monitoring budgets, and ensuring that construction and build is completed within the approved financial limits.

The ideal candidate must have strong cost management experience iand the ability to support projects from the initial quoting stage through to final account.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and pricing schedules
  • Review drawings and specifications for pricing purposes
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, and expenditure
  • Prepare interim valuations and cost reports
  • Assess and price variations, claims, and additional works and variation orders
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
  • Support procurement by obtaining quotations and comparing supplier/subcontractor prices
  • Prepare final accounts and assist with contract close-out
  • Identify cost risks and recommend cost-saving measures where possible

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Minimum 2- 3 years’ experience as a Junior or Candidate Quantity Surveyor or in a similar cost management role
  • NQF Level 6 or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying  
  • Experience in the construction and building industry within the retail and hospitality sector
  • Strong knowledge of bills of quantities, cost estimating, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, scope of works
  • Good knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes
  • Strong numerical, analytical, reporting, and negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office and quantity surveying/costing software
