We are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor as part of a Defence contract on a permanent basis.

Job Description

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will work alongside the Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors, assisting with Commercial and Quantity Surveying work across the contract.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager responsible for the commercial function of the designated region.
• Assist in ensuring the efficient overall commercial and financial management of the assigned projects/region in a professional and ethical manner adhering to commercial guidelines, established best practice and company standards.
• Support in the timely & accurate submission of contract commercial deliverables
• Contribute to maximising the potential growth and development of the business.
• Support in the commercial activities of the project/region to ensure the objectives are met or exceeded.
• Work with the QS team to deliver commercial support and direction to project team(s)
• Support the QS team to with disputes, packages of change and variations.

Essential Qualifications/Skills

• A good understanding of general IT systems (Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel)
• An understanding of Finance/Cost and Contract Management Systems preferential.
• The ideal candidate should have knowledge and / or experience of working within the construction industry.
• Being capable of self-time management to meet varying workloads based on the availability of budgets and requirements of the role
• The role is broad and includes anything from risk management to procurement, financial reporting and managing both the supply chain and direct works
• Strong Mathematical skills.
• Among the qualities the ideal candidate must possess commercial awareness and the willingness to learn / be part of a team
